Hello there, I had 056
Hello there,
I had 056 running on vista x64 ultimate with a bios boot loader. Now I am testing Windows 7. For as it seems the latest beta drivers wont install at all. The 056 will install but doesnt give any feedback to the wheel. Also wheel setup is gone. No were I can set FFB.
For those who want to get ride of the x64 signed driver issue do this :
All you have to do is type cmd in the Search Box included in the Vista Start menu. Next, press Ctrl + Shift + Enter to open a command prompt window with elevated privileges. Now enter :"bcdedit /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS" in order to disable Driver Signing After you entered it will tell you : Operation succesfull.
Now reboot and off you go.
If this string doesnt work and Vista still gives the message then you have security patch KB932596 installed. This one kills the working string. However you can either delete or use the attach program. It makes a BIOS which youll see when you reboot. Works great, with all unsigned 64 bit drivers. I had the message once but the driver did work.
for the attach program go here : http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=37907
Are you radical enough ?

I installed latest betas.
I installed latest betas. When If i change settings in Fanatec Porsche Wheel Properties and exit out, the settings show up as reset when I open it again.
'Cancel SW Damping Effects' goes back to unchecked, 'wheel angle' is reset to 0, and wheel illumination remains greyed out.
Once I exit out and change to 900 degrees using the wheel controls, it won't remember my custom settings (off).
So it looks like i'm going back to beta 056 drivers.
This is with Vista 64 ultimate.

I have the same results with the driver BUT if you try the wheel in a game you should find it works. It only seems to forget your settings when you go back into the properties of the driver!!! I'm running Vista 64 Ultimate too.
The difference in the feedback between the old and new drivers is noticeable. Enough for me to live without the button illumination for now. Once Thomas fixes that and gets the driver to remember the previous settings then we'll be well on the way to full functionality. All the RFactor plug-in functions don't work - but the throttle feedback bits do.
Hi Thomas, Neither driver
Hi Thomas,
Neither driver worked for me sadly.
32 bit XP SP3, uninstalled 057 in control panel, PWsrvc wasn't running. When I install 082 or 083 it goes fine up until the message "you need to restart your computer comes up", then after I dismiss that (either Yes or No) it says there was a problem with the installation and it couldn't be completed, then it removes the files (but not the registry entries I think).
I got in and made a copy of the files in the Porsche Wheel directory and replaced them again after they were deleted by the installer. The wheel was getting recognized as Porsche Wheel, and the driver worked, but the wheel and pedal movement wasn't detected/displayed and the FF, vibration, and Calibrate functions weren't working either. The Setup tab seemed to work though.
Back to the 057 driver for me :( Good to see you are still working on driver improvements though, keep going ;)

Tried installing 083 on my work computer (shhhh) and it works fine [it installs fine, I didn't try it with the wheel attached]. Never even tells me I need to reboot like it did at home.
Any idea why its failing on my home PC? Things to try?
Work PC: XP Pro SP2 (32 bit)
Installed on a Vista 64 bit
Installed on a Vista 64 bit setup. All the illumination on the wheel is out and the tick box in the Game Controller Properties is 'greyed' out. Much better FFB in RFactor. Like the change to the throttle vibration (although having it on Engine Revs in RFactor is finger numbing at times). Unable to get the LED mode to work at all. Tried both versions with various install methods (old 64bit then v_082/083 - all uninstalled and v_082/83 and all sorts of weird combinations) to see what worked. Best I came up with was old 64bit, then _082, then _083. I was having some issues with the pedals loosing contact (tried allsorts to fix) but this seems improved now. I do have a lot hanging on USB's ports so maybe the PWFilterUSB.sys wasn't helping.
plugin.dll copied into RFactor directory (plugins) and ran the game then tried the telemetry page on the Controller Properties and it saw it fine just not all of them working yet.
I was feeling a little frustrated with this expensive wheel until I found this forum and these updated drivers - MUCH happier with it now. Keep up the good work Thomas.
Will try the new drivers as
Will try the new drivers as well.
082 had one issue.. GTL didn't have FFB. All other Simbin games had no problems..
083 downloading right now
It all works fine, also in

Windows XP SP3.
When I tried to uninstall
When I tried to uninstall the last official driver the uninstaller kept stopping when it was trying to kill PWSRVC.exe I had to manually kill it so the uninstaller could uninstall everything else, then reboot and kill it again so I could install the beta 082 driver.
My computer locked up when I tried to uninstall the beta 082 driver. When I rebooted I just went ahead and killed PWSRVC.exe manually and installed the new driver with no problem. I'm not sure why PWSRVC.exe is so persistent but it really doesn't want to die.
we need to find a way to
we need to find a way to automatically delete this file. In the new driver this service is no longer needed but we need to get rid of the old one.
The problem is PWsrvc.exe is
The problem is PWsrvc.exe is in the registry for startup. I can kill it with the command line taskkill /f /im pwsrvc.exe A command line window popups up during installation but hangs. I don't know if that's what it's trying to do at that particular point or not.
I think part of my problem was installing the drivers to a couple of different places at one time or another. When looking in my registry I found three different references to PWsrvc.exe so that might have been part of my issue.
We still need PWsrvc.exe
We still need PWsrvc.exe during installation but it will not run permanently as a service as before.
I tried to remove the first
I tried to remove the first beta from the other day, and install the newer update. No errors on installation. However, on either beta, for some reason despite the plug-in being in my rfactor plug ins folder (along with working RealFeel & TrackIR, for example) there is still no readout display on the wheel when driving. I can set the output I want in telemetry setup (I tried current speed, gear+shifting indicator, and current gear choices), but it won't display on my wheel with either beta driver. It does seem to be doing something since I also set the vibration to work on wheel lock and not accelerator pedal, and not when I push the gas the wheel doesn't vibrate.
Of note also- I had done the firmware flash before to get the wheel to work with GT5 Spec III on the PS3, not sure if that means I run a different wheel firmware than others?
I reverted back to the initial beta since the second version seemed to have issues holding a rotation setting under 900 degrees. I usually race w/ 900 degrees, but decided to try lower (like 420, or 360) for driving open wheel mods like F1-2009 or the F1 2008 mod. However, although the soft stops on the wheel worked when in the wheel properties pane, when I went into rFactor I could still turn the wheel past the soft stops easily. This is even true on tin-top mods like Porsche Carerra Cup Asia, etc..
Not sure if that had anything to do with the newer beta, but I reverted just in case. I also noticed if I just set it to 900 and leave it, if I adjust my steering lock in the game's mod to something low like 13 or 15 for open wheelers, it still seems to work fine without having to crank the wheel around too much on the tight bends.
However it would be nice to know what I'm doing wrong to get lower degrees of rotation to work as an option and match the wheel display on the screen. I noticed there are seemingly two places to adjust wheel rotation in the rFactor setup files: under player/controller.ini, and in the controller folder, with the specific controller preset you've saved for the PWT (in my case I named it "911.ini" Both have a setting to adjust degrees of rotation of the wheel in the game?
We are investigating the
We are investigating the steering angle issue now. We also know that the driver has problems to find the rFactior installation if it is installed on a different drive, multiple installations or operating systems. Perhaps we add a manual possibility to look for the rFactor installation.
Yes, thanks Thomas! I have
Yes, thanks Thomas! I have two rFactor installs on my main C drive. One for Historix (c/programs/rFactorHistorix/rFactor.exe), and one for the other mods (c/programs/rFactor/rFactor.exe). Maybe that is the issue.
Hello, I'm using Vista
Hello, I'm using Vista 64-bit and the latest drivers weren't working properly for me innitially
I uninstalled the previous drivers, and installed these. none of axis or buttons show up as being pressed in the Porsche profile, but they're detected in dxtweak2 and in game. The clutch pedal doesn't work properly and is detected as "combined pedals" the plugin for rFactor seems to be working properly, except the gear shift indicator flashes too slowly to get my attention :) It looks like PWFilterUsb.sys is not installed when i install these drivers.
I tried installing the old beta and then installing these new ones on top, and now the clutch seems to be working properly, but I can't get the proper Porsche menu to show up, instead i get the generic windows controller menu which shows axis movement and buttons.
I just uninstalled, and without restarting, installed the new drivers, and now the proper menu shows up. Clutch gas brake, gears/buttons work. Steering was still not working properly until i went and changed the default steering lock to above 0 degrees. The 'Wheel illumination' option is no longer checkable and is grayed out.
Okay, it seems to be working fine in rFactor, iRacing and Live For Speed.
it looks like maybe the missing PWFilterUSB.sys may have been the, problem, but I'm not sure.
i just uploeaded a new
i just uploeaded a new version of the driver which should fix your problems.
We are now working on the 64 bit version as well.
Thanks Thomas, everything
Thanks Thomas, everything seems to work fine here :)! And now the rF support is much better and easier than the alpha version.
Is this beta integrating
Is this beta integrating some of the g25 software? I did try the driver and under controller showed as a g25. Just wondering.
i guess the installatioon
i guess the installatioon did not work. We do not use any G25 driver code. What do you see in the game conroller properties?
I had this same problem with
I had this same problem with the Porsche 911 Turbo wheel. It was because I also had Logitech drivers on my system from my previous wheel.
Thomas, will it ever be
Thomas, will it ever be possible to include this kind of an update to Gran Turismo? I dont know if you could as it probably would require a firmware update for the game also. Please enlighten me on this as i think the shift indicator and other vibration effects are very cool and could really improve the immersion factor of the game.
In theory it is possible and
In theory it is possible and in fact it is very likely that we will get support on Xbox360 for it . On PS3 it is possible but more difficult.
well thats sad news
well thats sad news considering im only using the wheel for GT5:P but thanks for the speedy response and good luck with further development. hopefully this update will come to consoles soon
Thomas, thanks for the new
Thomas, thanks for the new driver! I tried it out, and not sure if I'm imagining it or not but the FFB feels better in rFactor, perhaps stronger, with no other changes- maybe just a clean reinstall did me good.
Anyway, the one issue is I can't seem to use the rFactor special features like display gear+shift indicator or current speed. I put the plugin dll in my plugins folder and selected the options I wanted when rFactor was picked in the porsche wheel properties page, but no indicator in the game. Should I choose the settings before the rFactor is launched or alt-tab out of it while running to set up the wheel plug-in options? I think I tried both ways and neither seemed to work. However the driver seems to be running well and feeling good otherwise!
PS- I use Vista 32 bit SP1 latest updates...
The FFB feels indeed better
The FFB feels indeed better in rFactor without the autocentering activated.
Not sure why the plug in is not working but we will come back to you
Thanks Thomas, yes, the FFB
Thanks Thomas, yes, the FFB is much more direct. Shame the plugin for on-wheel shift or speed indicator isn't working in my install, but let me know if you need any details about that or want me to help troubleshoot it when you get a chance.
Hi Thomas, I have a few
Hi Thomas,
I have a few questions:
1) 32 means it's only for 32 bit systems? Can I install it on 64 bit Vista?
2) The issue with FFB hanging - have you resolved it? If not is it not considered to be an issue at all? It was confirmed by many people.
thanks
1) this has not been tested
1) this has not been tested yet. It is a 32 bit version
2) We have listed this issue but unfortunatly we could not reproduce it on our PCs and therefore we cannot analyze it. Do you like to run some tests with us to help us on this issue?
2) Yes sure, I'd be happy to
