We are proud to introduce a new feature in our driver: The Drift Mode
The Drift Mode reduces the overal resistance of the wheel and let you turn the wheel more easy. It almost works like a power steering. It reduces the basic dampeing of the wheel.
You can adjust several values and we are still experimenting a bit with the values so you have a lot of choice in the attached Beta version of the driver.
At the moment we only have a 32 bit version but once this feature is settled we will release a certified 64 bit version.
Please note that I recommend to turn on the "dampening strength" now as this just controls the signals sent from the game. For example if you drive through muddy water.
Please let me know your feedback on this feature. Thanks!

While youre at the beta
While youre at the beta stage still with the drivers is it a option to put in some more degree`s of rotation. The wheel has got now 90/180/360/900 as default in wheel setup. I doubt anyone is using these low rotation degree`s unless there a big fan of trackmania. But then again you wouldnt buy a Fanatec porsche wheel.
So is it possible to put in some extra rotation degree`s like 450/540/720 ?. Or are these settings flashed in the hardware it self ??.
These rotation are the normal rotation of roadcars and would help a lot if they came supported within the wheel. Just asuggestion which I think will be very helpfull.

yeah, that would be a nice feature to change the default quick switches to whatever you want :)
Last set of drivers wouldn't
Last set of drivers wouldn't install at all. This set did but in doing so killed every one of the HIDs I had installed on my computer! Needed to do a system restore to bring them all back (mouse, keyboard, etc) :(
XP32 SP3, a pretty basic lean setup. I'd be surprised if I'm the only one with this or similar issue -- definitely something to check out before you release.

We noticed this issue and we will make a new installation routine to fix it
Your sure it was a driver
Your sure it was a driver issue ?. It is very strange a driver kills every HID install on a system. More likely graphic card issue`s or other hardware plugged into mobo. Normally HID are supported by any OS so shouldnt really matter.

Thanks for your suggestions
Thanks for your suggestions Niels -- appreciated. Its radical I know ;) but I'm certain it was the driver installation. I had 9 HIDs present before installation, I did the installation and I was left with 4 broken HIDs (they had the little broken symbol on their icons). External Mouse/Keyboard weren't working (luckily the laptop's touchpad and keyboard were). With small problems I'd try and track down the exact issue or fix/reinstall the other devices but this failure was what I would call catastrophic and a system restore was the only real option (thats one feature of XP that rarely disappoints) and it worked a charm.
I don't know much about how HID drivers work, but I have noticed that Fanatec's driver often requires manual installation in device manager to get it working (04x and 05x drivers).
Looking forward to trying out an 08x driver when you get this sorted, Thomas. Cheers.

This problem was caused by the driver and we must fix that. Otherwise we cannot get the 64 vcertification as well. I hope to get a new version tomorrow.

You have any new drivers for x64 ?. I mean in a beta beta like alhpa fase ?. I am happily to test them out for you.

Oke Thomas,
I am running Win 7 now and drivers are working. Did had some weird issue`s with the wheel keep rotating from left to right but other then that it works fine under 32 bit Win 7.
Driver working properly after a hour stint. Some weir d flips of the wheel during driving. Like you hit a curb and wheel goes other way. Bt this was on the straight. Several times but after didnt happen anymore.
FFB=66% on wheel and 200% ingame LFS
rotation 900 on wheel adn 900 ingame.
What games is supported by the extended drivers ?. I cant select LFS so not supported ?. I see rfactor but thats the only game.
Any suggestion if I can get it to work ?.
Niels

Hi Niels after
Hi Niels
after rFactor is running properly we will support other games like LFS, iRacing, RACE07 etc.
Thomas, I'm trying them out
Thomas, I'm trying them out now. So far they seem grea!!!
Still can't get the rFactor features like display shifting indicator though, maybe since I have two rFactor installs? Anyway, the feel is really nice. I'm on drift mode 1 to try it out. I'm going to try both open wheel and GT cars.
What settings do you like for rFactor? I tried dampening strength 100 as default in a tin top and it felt very weak. I dropped to 0 to feel full effects with Real Feel, but I'd be interested in more detail about how you like to set this, and how it and also "Drift Mode Test: Saturation Values" both function?
Thanks for the good work!
EDIT- more info, here is
EDIT- more info, here is what I've been trying this afternoon-
Mod: Porsche Carrera Cup Asia 2007, Game: rFactor.
PWT Wheel hardware (red LED) settings: FF 100, SHO 00, SEN Off
fFactor game setup: 900 degree wheel in controller, FFB= -100 in menu, Level Low ("Real Feel is enabled")
Running a test on FSOne 2008 track pack, G.P. Istanbul. Track texture upgrade pack by Culmone67. But I'm sure any good track would be similar. I'll try some others...
PWT driver Beta 083, Vista 32
Autocenter spring- off
Wheel angle 900
Dampening Strength: 3% (100 default was very weak with my settings. Started with 0 but crashes were HARSH. 3% still gives me good center feel.)
Side question- Does Dampening Strength just work to soften the harshest feedback, like crashes and shunts? I'd like more on-center feel and if the crashes were a little less strong it would be okay, but don't want to weaken up the middle range of the FFB?)
Drift Mode: 2 (3 may be okay too- is the FFB and wheel resistance higher the higher the number? I tried 8 and had to unplug the wheel it was shaking so hard.)
Telemetry Data: doesn't work with my install. I have /Program Files/rFactor and also /Program Files/rFactorHistorix folders. Maybe I should change the Historix one so it doesn't start with "rFactor"?
rFactor PCC 07 car settings: (I'm a rookie, so if something seems way off I won't be offended, and in fact welcome other suggestions)
Default downforce, basic settings and all.
Change General/Steering Lock to 23,
and Advanced/Caster to 2.0 (read this was preferred setting in Real Feel thread on forum.) '
Under vehicle, options, I have FFB Multi: Multi 6.0 installed (also don't know what this setting does really?)
Real Feel: Max Force= -2300, Damper= 11500, smoothing= 0, RF mix 100%
It feels really nice with these drivers!
I need to tweak or would like suggestions if anyone is also trying PCC. How do I roll off only the harshest of feedback and keep all the rest of the range of effects except the very strongest. I don't want a looser feeling easier to steer (more power-steering like) than I have, I just wish the jolts from the biggest impacts, track dips, shunts, etc...were a little less; otherwise, perfect, these drivers are almost nirvana! Also a little less loose on the wheel around the center would be nice- it feels a little too non-linear in the middle. Probably somewhere in my settings. I like the overall strength of my settings above in drift mode 3 otherwise...
Dampening strength or Drift
Dampening strength or Drift Mode should not have any impact on regular force effects as this is a different FF command.
If you try out the different settings of the drift mode in the game controller panel you will understand how dampening works. Of course the game can also mix dampening with Force effects but this is rather rare. Some games do not use any dampeing effects at all.
It is always a big issue to
It is always a big issue to convert a driver for Vista64 so we first want to make sure the features work well in 32 bit and then we convert it to 64.
Thomas i agree on that,
Thomas i agree on that, converting drivers from x32 upwards to x64 idnt easy. Fair comment. But you left a lot of people in the dark this way for more then a year who are using x64 Vista or lately Win 7. Not saying you arent trying but that doesn`t come across. Every beta driver you have released are x32 bit drivers. After that there is no follow up for normal drivers. Anyway I tried the 086 driver, those arent working under Vista x64 or Win 7 x64. Maybe I will install a third OS with Win 7 x32 to see if the drivers work there. Not sure yet, if I have a spare moment maybe.

I will try these drivers on
I will try these drivers on Win7 and x64 bit. However I am stunned that there isnt any x64 bit driver released for more then over a year.
Will follow up on the 086 beta driver.

I just tried w/ vista 64
I just tried w/ vista 64 ultimate, and i cant seem to get the gas/brake pedal to work. and i have the same problems w/ previous drivers. clutch is working properly though.
Hmmm. LFS and DXTWEAK2 show the gas and brake as combined axis. I'm trying to figure out how to separate them...
I noticed once or twice when
I noticed once or twice when I changed drift mode to a higher level, the combined axis setting was checked. I needed to go back and manually uncheck sometimes.
We will check that!
