Certified 64 bit driver now available + new 32bit driver !UPDATE 3!

UPDATE 3: ver 64_091 and 32_091 now available

We finally have a certified driver for Vista 64 for all Porsche wheels and the CSP.

Please have a look at the attached beta version and let me know if everything works fine.

We also changed the installation routine of the 32 bit driver completely.

There are still some minor things to fix like wrong logos etc but the driver should run stable already.

IMPORTANT: Please de-install all previous drivers manually before installation and make sure that the PWservice.exe or PWsrvc.exe is not running before installation.  If possible search for those files and delete them because somtime the de-installation routine does not delete those programs.

Update on 91_64 drivers Hi,

Update on 91_64 drivers

Hi, after some time using the new drivers, I've noticed that I don't have to go to Controllers -> 911 wheel -> Setup tab to 'apply' the custom radius every time I plug in the wheel. Has this been officially fixed?

Regarding the wheel turning left and right after auto-calibration, it seems like that this only and always happens when I plug-in the wheel after I'm on track in rFactor (I don't play any other games currently). This should help you to replicate this issue and hopefully fix it. After exiting the game to main menu, or if I plug in the wheel before the track is loaded, this doesn't happen.

Last but not least, since there are still issues with drivers, it would be nice to have a menu item 'Drivers' that lists all official drivers problems, so we don't complain about same issues. What do you think Thomas?

Running - Vista 64, 0.91

Running - Vista 64, 0.91 driver, GTL, GTR2, Race 07.

During online racing, when the session changes and I'm on track my game crashes to the desktop. It is ok if I'm in the garage when the session changes. This happens in GTL, GTR2 and Race 07, I've not raced rFactor online, so I don't know if that does it as well.

I'm using the 0.91 driver, and if I don't connect the GT3RS wheel and use my DFP wheel the game is ok when the session changes. I'll try the 0.89 driver and see if it the same with that.

Any thoughts on what could be causing it?

Well as no one else seems to

Well as no one else seems to have the CTD problem when racing online, I guess the problem must be specific to my software/hardware setup when racing.

I found the cause of my CTD

I found the cause of my CTD when the session changes.

The prosche wheel driver was conflicting with the XD plugin (http://www.vitumo.de/) for the Simbin games.

I uninstalled the XD plugin and not one CTD since.

Well I seem to have the same problem, and I don't have the XD plugin installed. It only happened for the first time so I don't know if it is a recurring issue. I was playing GTL with the anti-deco patch.

The ultimate test Hi guys,

The ultimate test

Hi guys, this weekend I've participated on a 24h race(8h of net driving by myself) using the latest 64_91 drivers on Vista 64 mashine with the original 911 wheel. First of all, I have to say I did not encounter any issue that would effect my driving, great job Fanatec! The race was split into 12 two hour races and I was driving 4 of them. During all of these 4 two hour session the wheel was running flawlesly. However, there is one thing I'd like to mention - sometimes when I start the wheel, after the autcalibration (turning to very left and then righ) it doesn't stop and continues moving left and right. Sometimes slowly, sometimes fast, anyhow it obviously makes the wheel unusable. Turning the wheel off/on (by (un)plugging the adapter) doesn't help, the scenario repeats itself. What helps is when the dongle is reconnected to the computer (or the system is restarted, which I guess is the same). Afterwards this kind of behaviour is reset and most of the time the wheel behaves correctly. I suppose it's something in the drivers (cpu) that tells the wheel to act like this. Thomas?

Had this problem too and

Had this problem too and nothing but unplugging and plugging back in the power cord seemed to help.It doesn't happen frequently but it is annoying.I have my suspicion of a possibly damaged power plug connector that goes into the wheel or maybe a defective cable.

Vista 64-bit ultimate. GTR2,

Vista 64-bit ultimate.
GTR2, GTL, Race 07 - FFB settings 65% force, reversed.
PW_64_driver_091_BETA_SIGNED - Settings 360° angle, 30% dampening, drift mode 3.

I'm driving around the track, and then hit a rumble strip mid corner and the wheel starts slightly shaking side to side, but sometimes it doesn't stop as I drive down the straight and it only stops once I hit something else, which could be several corners later.

Also in GTL the game doesn't recognise all of the buttons, but this seems to be due to the amount of buttons that GTL can recognise from one controller. You could fix this by being able to assign a keystroke to each button.

Hi mate, to get cured from

Hi mate,

to get cured from that oscilating, there are some values to be tuned in GTL:

1. Higher value for >>FFB steer force exponent<<

2. Lower value for >>FFB steer force input max<<

3. Lower value for >>FFB steer force output max<<

All these three values correspondent and it`s the task to find the best combination.

A slightly higher value in the driver for dampening could help too. I had these oscillating with my old wheel and got rid of it by tuning the FFB settings in the PLR.

Cheers,

Taffy

I haven't noticed the

I haven't noticed the continuous shaking. Does it do that with all games? Does it depend on the dampening setting, or on whether or not drift mode is enabled?

As for GTL not recognizing the buttons, that's a limitation of GTL. You can get around that by using a program like Joy2Key or JoyToKey. But support for that in the driver would be very nice.

@ReDi I've tried it with all

@ReDi
I've tried it with all combinations of the dampening settings and drift mode settings. It happens in all the games I listed, GTR2, GTL and Race 07.

Imagine a smooth straight road with a few cobble stones at either end. You drive along and get FFB going over the cobble stones at the start of the road, sometimes that FFB sticks, making all the road seem like cobble stones, until you've driven over the cobble stones at the other end of the road.

@Taffy
I've tried adjusting those plr and driver settings, the problem only stops when I use a FFB setting of below 40 in the games controls menu, but having it that low means I don't get the feedback I need. I'll try adjusting the FFB steer vibe settings in the plr file.

It could be caused by me having to use both of my wheels. Porsche wheel for steering and Driving Force Pro connected so that I can use the pedals. I'll see if it still happens when the CSP's arrive in July.

This problem has been

This problem has been reported by many people, I have the same issue in rFactor. I believe it's drivers issue. I've offered to help fanatec to resolve this problem but sofar they have not shown any interest into actually fixing it. I have to say it's pretty annoying problem unfortunately.

ReDi's picture

It could well be a driver

It could well be a driver conflict of some sort. You can get rid of it by setting FFB to low in your games. That way you get rid of the curbstones effect altogether, but that may not be what you want...

Changed back to 0.88beta. As

Changed back to 0.88beta.

As some guys mentioned before, the driver version 0.88beta gives the best FFB. This is due to the higher range of the drift mode settings in that version. The minimum resistance of my wheel is reached with value >>8<< (0xC0). This gives me the best possibility for ingame settings, and the wheel could be operated at much lower overall FFB forces. By the way, I could operate the wheel for hours without any heating issues. The fan has been quiet since.

You need all these dampening and resistance stuff in the driver only for games (sims), which don`t have the option to fine tune the FFB effects. Otherwise zero dampening and resistance are the best way to let sim control the wheel.

Would be great if the next, or final release features the missing three extra values in the drift mode range.

Cheers

Taffy

HEy Thomas, Installed the

HEy Thomas,

Installed the 091 drivers for win7 x64. Installment oke, nothing wrong. Setting the wheel was pretty easy. Driving it was a different matter. The FFB isnt the same as the last beta drivers. It seems the FFB has loose some strenght. Also the wheel wont get calibrated rightly. Its for about 4 degree`s off. So put back in the latest old drivers 089 I thinnk and they work better. Calibration working again, FFB feels better. Maybe I am seeing things but this drivers gives more feel to the wheel for some reason.

Are you radical enough ?

I have the same problem as

I have the same problem as with the old 911 turbo. But it seems just about impossible to install the drivers on XP? Doesn´t matter how many background processes I kill or how many porsche files I delete manually it just want to interupt the installation. Is there any way to install these drivers manually?

If I install windows 7 32-bit instead of vista 64-bit will the rFactor plugin work with that?

New driver feels different

New driver feels different with regards to damping setting? When I went to the latest 091 32-bit driver, I noticed the FFB seemed a little more "flat", like less range of subtle vs. strong effects. I thought I was just imagining things. I had decided back when the beta drivers were #08x (like 086 or 088, a couple of weeks ago) that I needed to reduce the stock setting of FFB damping from 100% down to very low, like 3% or even 0% to get stronger FFB. I also noticed in a couple of other reviews people were using like 10% (on GT3RS, which may feel differently than my 911 Turbo I know)

Anyway, now with the latest driver, I decided to try the stock setting of 100% damping along with my preferred drift mode 3. It now feels better (I think!) at 100%. No perceptible loss of FFB effects- the oppisite, I noticed some subtelties I didn't before (all testing using the same track I've gotten used to over the last two weeks.) Anyone else want to share their preference in rFactor and if the stock 100% damping setting feels better in this new driver?

What exactly does the

What exactly does the damping settings do?

ReDi's picture

It damps the force feedback

It damps the force feedback effects, i.e. it makes them less sharp.

So I suppose it's not good

So I suppose it's not good to have the dampening settings on since it makes the FFB less sharp?

ReDi's picture

That would be personal

That would be personal preference. I like a low damper setting since the Porsche wheel's force feedback isn't as sharp as that of other wheels because of the belt drive. You'll just have to experiment with it to see what setting gives the best feeling for you.

Hello, I Got my wheel in

Hello, I Got my wheel in last friday thanks..

The Driver for 32 V091, so far it seems it works great, Only thing wrong is that the file for rFactor can not be recognized. I placed the file in rFactor folder and it still won't recognize it.

Richard's picture

You placed it in the

You placed it in the rFactor\Plugins\ directory right?

Then you need to set it up using the Fanatec driver menu... and hopefully it works.

If you've done both of those then I'm all out of ideas sorry.

Thank you it works. I

Thank you it works. I thought just throw it in the rFactor folder not the plugins, now it works thanks!
