Here is an interesting video about a competition in Silverstone.
PWTS with FM3
vs
Johnny Herbert in a real 911 GT2
The vid was made very well although they need some assistance how to set up the monitors ;)
No idea if the result was fake or not but the track was obviously wet in real which is certainly a disadvantage which can cause 3 seconds.

Great vid. The host should have done it without assists though :P
I wish they let the race
I wish they let the race driver play the game after the race, and see how similar it was to what he had just done.
Good job Fanatec, getting recognition everywhere.
Being American and
Being American and right-handed, shifting with my left would seem totally freaky.
Ever seen the TOP GEAR where Clarkson does Gran Turismo then hits the track for real. The main difference is the fear factor. They did do a test in Popular Science where they had drivers do Forza2 then drive for real. One was a top Forza gamer and the other was a real racer. The times were actually close in that one as far as virtual time VS real time.
Was he given the wheel to use for the show by Fantec, or was he waiting in the line with the rest of us I wonder? ;)
I've owned a few RHD Minis
I've owned a few RHD Minis and I live in the USA. Shifting with your left hand takes all of about 30 seconds to get used to. The hardest part is sitting on the right side of the car - you're used to seeing the middle of the lane stripes over your left shoulder essentially... yet now there's a few feet of car in the way. :) The only time I really notice it is when I'm tired, and then it's because I'll drift slightly to the left (because of the lines).

We did not take away the wheel from any customer to give it to a show or anything else. Either the asked us also a long time before or they will have to wait too.
Best regards,
Armin

Oh I wasn't insinuating that you guys would do that.
I was just picturing him waiting impatiently, blogging away over here, asking about shipment dates repeatedly.....etc..
And even if you did I wouldn't fault you for it. TV exposure is one of the biggest promos you can get.

LOL
Now flip their rides and see how they do. I'd doubt the GT2 comes back in 1 piece. :)
Seriously, why so much
Seriously, why so much spacing between the monitors? While it is great to see the real track, I agree the 'test' was not fair for the real driver. What would have made the video more worthwhile was to have the real driver run both (real/virtual) back to back and give a comparison.
Of course, set all that aside, it was great to see the fanatec wheel in action. ;)
