ClubSport Shifter: Initial Specs

Thanks for all the great input guys! This helped a lot and I am happy to tell you that we will be able to deliver almost everything you asked for. Here are the initial specs of the CSS:

Material: Full aluminium with some steel parts

Mounting options: There will be screw inserts on the bottom. We will make an adapter for the Clubsport table clamp and the RennSport Wheel Stand.

Amount of gears: 7+1

Sequential option: We will implement it but only if this is not a compromise. We have a solution which could work very well in both modes

Haptic feeling: Very similar like in a real car. Perhaps we can even make the resistance adjustable.

Acoustic: A solid "clonck" instead of a "clack" but very silent

Colour/design: Silver as CSP. The shifter will be gated like in a Ferrari or Lamborghini

Style of gear knob: It will be exchangeable so upgrades are possible (leather, carbon, etc). The standard version will be an polished aluminum ball.

Size: We will try to keep the size of the PW shifter but it will probably become a bit higher

Compatibility: It will be backwards compatible to the Porsche wheel shifter and therefore compatible to all platforms. An USB adapter will be available optional to make it work with other wheels on PC.

Pricing: The target will be 99,95 € (incl VAT)/ 109,95 USD (excl. VAT)

Now we just have to make it happen. The target release date for the first prototypes is at the end of the year. We can announce a release date after we get the first test results.

Any news or estimated date to release?
thanks!

Any time frame for when we

Any time frame for when we might see your clubsport shifter available for purchase? Also I do hope that the rear of the clubsport shifter is the same size and mount as the existing shifter since I have already developed a mounting mechanism for it.

It sounds really awesome.

I'm also waiting for it.

I have sent a e-mail

I have sent a e-mail regarding a broken H-patern shifter. How do I know if the issue is being looked after? Thanks

Great stuff! It may be a

Great stuff!

It may be a great idea to have replacable "H" plates, for the various car gearings such as 6+1, 7+1 or sequential. This way the end user could just replace the top plate in the shifter and they are ready to use whatever gearing they require.
You could also have a mixed H and sequential. The H on the one side and the person can move the shifter over to use the sequential.

The hand brake is also an excellent idea, perhaps inculded as a set.

I think the name of the game with both of these units is "toughness" they need to be solid metal offerings with a solid feel.

If the shifter rod itself was threaded to the same size as actual shifters peeoplcould replace the stock knobs with their own adding some customization options also.

I also think this would be

I also think this would be great. I'd love to have a 5+1 H-plate actually since that's closest to a lot of the cars I drive and would feel natural.

Would be nice if the buttons

Would be nice if the buttons on the sequential shifter aren´t to the same buttons on the H shifter. I mean, the buttons on the H shifter ranging from 9 to 15, if you use the sequential gear up and gear down on button 11 and button 12, they are the same buttons on the third and fourth on H shifter. It would be good were different buttons, for instance, the 9-16 H shifter and button 17 and 18 for the sequential.

Thomas I still am owed the $50 coupon, can I use this on the shifter? I use my Turbo S wheel every week on PC and 360 and it's AWESOME with the clubsport pedals, thanks for a great product!

You want to use the

You want to use the H-Shifter and sequntial shifter at the same time? Like, using the sequential shifter as e-brake?

I can't imagine how that

I can't imagine how that would work, and I think that he wants different button numbers so that he doesn't have to re-map the controls each time he switches from sequential to H-shifter. Actually I like this suggestion as well :o)

Mounting options: It would

Mounting options: It would be important to maintain the current treatment of holes for bars for those who have made an installation

A great concept, and I look

A great concept, and I look forward to seeing these available.

HOWEVER, would it not be better to go 8+1, or straight 8 (assignable Reverse if necessary to wherever you want it), since there are cars appearing with that amount of gears. I mean I am certain 7 is a consideration because of Forza 3, and the problem you have with 7 gear cars, but you'll hit the same wall driving the Lexus IS F in GT5 so it should really be something to consider.

Also is the RJ11 connector a good thing? I think not. PS2 is universal, and I can get a PS2 cable from Amazon rather than need to import a proprietary cable from you. That to me makes much more sense than just adding a new type of connector for the hell of it, unless you want to make us all import single cables if they are too short/long etc.

I'd ask that the connector NOT be on the bottom of the unit this time though. Sticks out like a sore thumb, really. Back or side is more ideal, with back being the best position for hiding it straight out of sight.

Also I think that it'd benefit if like the pedals there was some leeway in the design for mounting the base, then moving the stick around a bit so it can be closer to or further away from the wheel as desired without the mounting mechanism getting in the way.

Just my thoughts. Look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Thanks for your input. To

Thanks for your input.

To make a 8+1 would change the mechanics a lot and it will make shifting more difficult for all 6 speed cars. The 7th speed was no compromise as we had this gate anyway on top of reverse.

To use the paddle shifters on those 8 speed cars make much more sense and in fact you can make a combination of h-pattern and sequential shifting.

The TRJ 11 or RJ 45 is much smaller, can be safed securley and is certainly much easier to get than any PS/2 cable.

Well as much as there is a

Well as much as there is a slight benefit to the RJ11/45, with the clip and smaller connection, but the other end of the cable will still be PS2, right? Meaning we need to make a cable (which I can do, but still), or buy one from you, with international shipping costs (unless you'll add a nice cheap standard airmail option to the site), it kinda makes no sense, else I don;t see how this statement will apply:

Compatibility: It will be backwards compatible to the Porsche wheel shifter and therefore compatible to all platforms. An USB adapter will be available optional to make it work with other wheels on PC.

Surely you can't be adding the RJ11 to the other end of the USB cable, so we are going to have a PS2 to RJ11 cable for the shifter? Seems an odd choice...

Yeah, why take the rare RJ11

Yeah, why take the rare RJ11 telephone jack instead of the more common RJ-45 LAN-cable jack?

If RJ-11 is indeed a

If RJ-11 is indeed a standard land-line telephone cable, then haha, that is not as rare as an RJ-45 used for LAN. Plus, RJ-45 is much more thicker than a "RJ-11" and flexible easier to bundle together and tie. I say go for RJ-11 if it is in fact a standard telephone cable!

this sounds great hopefully

this sounds great hopefully you release it soon

Hi, is there a possibility

Hi,

is there a possibility to mount the CS Shifter on the same desk the wheel is mounted?

I would mount the wheel on my computer's desk and the shifter right next to it.

I am sure we will adapt our Clubsport table clamp and make it compatible

Sorry, I think you

Sorry, I think you misunderstood me.
The fact that the CS Shifter will be mountable on the club sport table clamp is fine. But I wanted to know, if you will be able to mount it to a normal desk, via a clamp that is built in the shifter.

we can make a dedicated

we can make a dedicated clamp for the shifter but i would not have that as standard feature as most people will add it to their cockpit.

is there no reason you cant

is there no reason you cant ship it with a clamp that is similar to the clamp on the g25 shifter...so that the full clamp can be removed if people wanted to hard mount it to their cockpit?

The only reason would be

The only reason would be cost which means it makes the product more expensive even if you dont need that clamp.

Ok, thank you. A dedicated

Ok, thank you. A dedicated clamp would be nice, or a "clubsport table clamp"-compatible mount as you mentioned before.

This is awesome news! One

This is awesome news! One selfish question, given the long due release, can you please extend the expiration date for the $50 coupon? Compare to the current accessory offerings, I'd really like to apply my coupon to the CS shifter and e-brake.
