PWGT3RS to PWGT3RSV2 upgrade kit - UPDATE

We decided to make all the new features and upgrades of the new V2 version available to existing customers of the 911 GT3RS V2.

As this is a major upgrade it is required to make some fundamental changes on the wheels. The following components need to be replaced:

  • Inner structure of wheel rim with new paddle shifter buttons
  • Clubsport Paddle Shifters
  • LED display cover
  • Wheel rim PCB
  • Base PCB
  • Base button PCB with cable
  • Main cable wheel-base

The on-off switch cannot be upgraded.

In order to upgrade, the wheel must be almost compeltely disassembled. You can see how it works in the video below (big thanks to Patrick!).

Please note that we will not give any warranty if something is damaged during the rework of the wheel. It is sold as "spare parts".

We will offer this kit as a stand alone kit for 40 EURO / USD. This is our cost price and we consider this offer as service.

If you are not a big DYI fan you can also send us the wheel and we will make the transformation for you. We have service agents in Germany and California.

The price of the service is 30 EUR / USD plus shipping costs in both ways.

In order to minimize the waiting time we want to organize and schedule the upgrades. Therefore we collect all orders first and then arrange production of the upgrade kits.

Please be patient as it can take several weeks until we can ship those kits.

If you are interested to upgrade your PWGT3RS to V2 please send an e-mail to

info.webshop@endor.ag with exactly this text:

Subject of e-mail:

"PWGT3RSV32 upgrade kit"

Text:

"I am interested in purchasing a kit to upgrade my PWGT3RS to V2

[choose]

A) I want to make the upgrade by myself

B) I want to send you my wheel and use the upgrade service"

SERIAL NUMBER OF PWGT3RS:

NAME:

ADRESS:

We will then send you an invoice with payment and shipping instructions. We can only accept PayPal payment for this service.

It is probably the first time that a company has offered such a service for such products and I hope that this makes you feel confident that you made a long term investment with your purchase.

You can be sure that we are always trying to offer new add-ons, new firmware, new drivers and even electronics not just to fix issues but to deliver a better product with more and more useful features.

UPDATE: Roy made a very detailed tutorial for the upgrade. It is now attached to this post. Big thanks to Roy!

I noticed in the PDF

I noticed in the PDF instructions it mentions about scraping off some yellow glue from the main connector on the wheel PCB...Obviously, if we do the upgrade at home we can't replace this glue. Will it be replaced if we send it in and how important is this glue (it was put there in the first place, so at one point in the design process it was thought to be necessary...)?

Also, I'm curious about the current estimated wait time if:
A) Want the upgrade kit mailed to us.
B) We send our wheel in to be upgraded.

Thanks.

Hello Thomas, I've sent an email yesterday requesting the upgrade kit but I'm not sure If this email order is still going or If I have to wait for the kit to be available through the webshop.

When possible Thomas, can you please confirm my email request/order for the upgrade kit? Or If I have to wait and buy from the webshop?

thanks a lot.

best regards,

Hello Thomas,
How much do you think, will it cost to send this KIT to Israel?
Thanks, Jake.

Hello I just see this offer

Hello
I just see this offer and found it realy nice, good to see such a good customers care.
You are the first i am aware of that give the oportunity to upgrade existing parts instead of just telling customers to buy brand new ones, thank you for that.

Just send the email to order one kit, and will do the upgrade myself as i don't see anything difficult to do on the video (electronic is my job, maybe it help ;-) )

Just one question : why haven't you made it available simply in your webshop like any other of your parts ?
Not anyone read this blog, and there is no link for it on main Fanatec website, so some peoples can miss this.

Actually we will offer the

Yes I know, and I guess your answer means "not a clue yet" :)
We will need to pay for them before you ship them :)

Hi Thomas, awesome update

Hi Thomas, awesome update and great price, I think anyone owning a GT3 RS wheel can afford that... ok, this is my question:

The feature "Compatible with all PlayStation®3 games which support Force Feedback" is possible only through a firmware update or it's absolutely necessary to get the hardware update kit?

On the other hand, do you know how long it takes to get the wheel updated since the request until the final delivery? approximately please...

That's all Thomas, thank you very much for your time.

Hi Thomas, Could you please

Hi Thomas,

Could you please send us at least a confirmation mail that the email with the request for a V2 upgrade is received.

I (and I think We) will appreciate it.

Thanx,
Dennis

Thomas (and

Thomas (and colleagues),

Thank you very much for the confirmation mail!

We are still collecting

We are still collecting orders and will ship all upgrade kits in one batch. But that can be still 2 months away.

Hello Thomas. Can you say

Hello Thomas.
Can you say when I could get an answer of my mail to upgrade my GT3RS?
Sorry for my bad english.. I know, you can speak German, so I write now in Deutsch ;-)

Das ganze also nochmal in Deutsch..

Dear Thomas, I currently own

Dear Thomas,
I currently own the GT3RS v1 and Clubsport pedals. While I'm quite happy with the latter, my wheel suffers from this "decalibration bug". I bought the wheel for rfactor and depending on the track, decalibration/"recalibration" occurs approx. 1 to 4 times each lap, which I find pretty annoying. I asked customer support whether Fanatec would - as part of getting rid of this issue - offer some kind of discount on the exchange service (v2 upgrade) if I buy the upgrade kit and send you my wheel. I don't know if I'll ever get an answer without asking again and again, so I thought it's better to ask you here about what you suggest. Thank you. Regards, Andreas

Hello Andreas we do not

Hello Andreas

we do not consider this issue as a malfunction of the wheel. In fact all wheels have that and only a few people noticed it and moost of them still drive fast.

If this issue would have bothered somebody seriously he should have returned the wheel within the return period after purchase.

We give away the upgrade kit at cost price and you get a lot for it. Unfortunatly we cannot give any further discounts.

Well, I asked customer

Well, I asked customer support what to do and was given the option to either send in the wheel or take part in a "dongle chainmail". As I'm a hobby beta-tester I chose the latter. It turned out it would have taken ages to get the dongle and finally I got it via a colleague from a Fanatec DTMR driver. However, the update failed but I'd blame myself for that. But that's just about why I did not send in the wheel at the beginning. I still disagree with you about that issue not being a malfunction. If I had known before, I wouldn't have purchased it but waited instead until things would have been sorted out, effectively meaning I would have become a happy V2 owner. At least you gave me an answer (although a disappointing one from my perspective), something customer support - only quickly responding to less unpleasant questions - was not able to. Now I know what to think about it and what my options are. Have a nice day.

Hi Thomas, just want to let

Hi Thomas,
just want to let you know that despite some disagreement on the above mentioned matter I decided to order a new V2 wheel (and already did) because I still think you can deliver a great piece of gaming hardware. Nevertheless, please note my criticism on how to handle unpleasant questions (customer support). I don't want to appear too picky, but I'd still prefer to get negative answers as fast as positive.

Regards, Andreas

Nice upgrade !
How many time this will be available? can't get it for the moment :(

Hey, is the warranty still

Hey, is the warranty still valid, if the wheel breaks after (!) upgrading it to V2? Thanks!

It depends. The warranty is

It depends. The warranty is only given if the defect has nothing to do with the upgrade.

Still would like to ask, can

Still would like to ask, can we who already have GT3(and I have PWTS too...) v1 get some discount if we decide to buy new wheel instead updating the older one.

If not otherwise, how if we send old wheel back to Fanatec and then would get the new one.

I could decide to buy whole new wheel if price for us, already GT3 owning ppl, would be ~100€ or something.

We have no plans for such a

We have no plans for such a discount as it would be technically difficult to handle it for us.  And if we do it we cannot give such a big discount but perhaps making a price of 140€ could work

So will there be any kind of

So will there be any kind of discount? My current GT3RS broke few hours ago. Wheel shaft or whatever it is called broke into two pieces. It just couldn't handle the speed and therefore I'm about to buy V2 and don't just want to rush in and buy it only to find out that few days later or something like that you may decide to make a discount. That's why I'm asking.

Hey Thomas! Great offer! I

Hey Thomas!

Great offer! I do have a few questions myself though. I noticed the Carbon Clubsport shifters on the new v2 page and as recommended accessories on the product page for it too, but no listing yet. Will there be much delay with that, as I would like to get those with this kit (both Carbon and Alu for the option, plus I can probs stick spares on my PWTS, right?). It would cut postage down too.

Also what does this mean:

"Inner structure of wheel rim with new paddle shifter buttons"

The rest is pretty easy to work out after replacing the word "rim" with "centre". And watching the video, but that's less obvious, is it an inside part wheel centre we would be replacing or like the whole back assembly that sits on the column the cable goes through to the base and the rim of the wheel?

I think pictures of the parts would be good, perhaps, if you happen to have any of course. I know English isn't your first language, and you do a great job, but a picture can be most helpful at times. A thousand words and all that...

Also might do that GT3 PWTS swap that some fellow documented on the YouTube, and was wondering if a custom set of buttons the lights would shine through would be out of the question? To match the GT3, as that would be superb. I would pay for them obviously, even if they cost quite a bit due to limited run? Well to a point. Feel free to contact me at dillingerdan[at]yahoo.co.uk if you don't feel like posting some of those answers here.

Thanks
Dan

Agreed, sounds like a great

Agreed, sounds like a great idea. I'm pretty good with screwdrivers so will probably give it a go.

Quick question is the 30euro price for the kit inclusive or PLUS 19% VAT and how much is UK postage on top of that?? It might start to work out pretty expensive.

This is incl VAT and there

This is incl VAT and there will be shipping costs between 10 and 20 EUR depending on the country.
