UPDATE
Fanatec wheels are too good to be true?
Thanks to the great feedback. Because of your feedback we have been able to reproduce it. It always happens if you do an extreme clean lap without any countersteering. The most easy way to reproduce it is on an oval.
Special thanks to our members FakeThinkpad and kartman21 who detected the solution.
What happens? The Fanatec wheels allow minimal movements of the steering wheel and extreme precise manouvers so that the game apparantly thinks that the user must be cheating as this cannot be achieved by a human.
The better you drive the more often it happens. It is independent from the steering angle but a clean lap is more likely if you use higher sensitivity like 900°. In theory it can happen with a controller or other wheel as well but so far I was not able to proof that because it is hard for me to drive clean without our wheels. ;)
Solution:
1. Make sure that you make at least one drift with countersteering per race
2. Reduce your steering angle to 270° to emulate the MS wheel which makes it harder to drive clean but avoids the issue more likely.
Of course, T10 is working on a patch to solve this issue but it takes time until those things go through all internal testing so please be a little bit patient.
IT IS NO LONGER NEEDED TO ASNWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS:
It seems that we had aerver issue so my last post on this subject was lost.
I would like to ask you again to help us to reproduce the problem so please let me knowthe following.
1. Did this issue already occured to you? (how often)
2. What Xbox console version are you using?
3. What sensitivity did you use when the issue occured?
4. Did you find any setting or solution where this issue did not occur?
5. Did it happen with SEN at 270 (this emulates the MS wheel)? (If yes, how often?)
6. What wheel do you have?
7. Did this happen to you or have you heard of that this is happening with other wheels or controllers as well?
8. What version of the game do you have? (demo, full, NTSC, PAL, updates)
9. Did you make a full installation (disc 1) on hard disk?
10. Did you turn on the Xbox console with the Xbox button on the wheel or with the power button on the console?
It seems that not everybody driving a Fanatec has this issue so there must be a difference. It could bethat setting the sensitivity to 270 would solve the issue but we need to confirm that. We only received one FM4 copy so far and it works on 900 as well on our system but this version is not a retail version.
I also saw a report that saving the difficulty settings after loading the race can avoid the issue.
There are already threads in other forums and I would like to list those for reference:

Think you guys should know
Think you guys should know they have released a fix for the steering bug.
See the release here - http://forzamotorsport.net/en-us/underthehood5/
It appears from the forum that this fix works but I have not tested it as yet so can not confirm.
Hope this helps
Cheers

Thinking about this issue
Thinking about this issue today. The most annoying part of it, outside of the actual issue, is that they have been virtually silent, if not completely silent about this. I struggle to see the reasoning behind the way this is being handled.
FYI, T10 just posted a

Disappointed in the response
Disappointed in the response from Turn 10
Got to agree with the other post about this bug.
If Turn 10 cannot remedy this bug then I think I will seek a refund on the basis that the game is faulty and cannot be played.
They need to fix this bug and quickly before we loose faith in the company and more vocal demonstrations of disappointment are voiced.
I hate to point this out,
I hate to point this out, but clearly, this is a WORKAROUND. Is is NOT the solution. The solution is for T10 to fix the bug. I wouldn't hold my breath given their history.
Thomas, can you please use
Thomas, can you please use your partnership to contact Turn 10? It's been over a month and the dev team has not even publicly acknowledged the bug. In the meantime we are shelving the game due to this bug. What is the deal with turn 10?
Yeah I totally agree. I
Yeah I totally agree. I really can't wrap my mind around how this is so difficult to correct. That being said if the issue is large enough that a 4 or 5 MB patch can't fix it, then they may try and sneak it in to the car pack... I hope.
thomas, I am very upset

Thomas I am very unhappy csr
Thomas I am very unhappy csr cae I bought the October 20, 2011. When I put it up in the LED does not register more DEFOIS the wheel stops. They sent me the FW 706, to overcome this problem. I can install it because of the USB ports. the service it comes from that. This morning I received a message that tells me he can not do anything for me if I not put this fw. It is a scandal because it is still under warranty and they want me pa share. I do not know what to do. Find a solution
Can you write in point form
Can you write in point form and clearly tell us in the proper order what had happened and what you`ve done so far?
Do you need help to install
Do you need help to install the USB drivers?
Tried the posted solution
Tried the posted solution and it does not work for me. My very first race yielded a big fat 0. ;o)
Hope that the game get patched quick. Letting the game sit on the shelf until it is fixed. Turn 10 is letting all their Wheel customers down.
I wouldn't hold your breath,
I wouldn't hold your breath, us wheel users are being left out in the cold on this one. No word from Turn 10 on the issue, and even if a patch is still in the works, it will take weeks for it to jump through Micro$ofts hoops to be approved for release. I'm so over Turn 10 I could scream.
Hi! Does this patch/update
Hi!
Does this patch/update also have an effect on the problem of stand-by mode on FM4?
I could not read if anyone encountered this problem, but when you leave the wheel idle for a while and goes to standby, then you have to turn off and back on the wheel with the power button and go to the xbox mode.
This only happened to me in the FM4.
Greetings!
PS: tested with "PGR4", "FM3", "FM4", "Burnout Paradise" and GT5(ps3)
Any news about a patch for
Any news about a patch for forza 4 about this and the other issues, Thomas?
I know it is not fanatec's fault and I can imagine it being annoying when people post here about a problem with Forza 4 but we are just hoping you can put some pressure on T10 to fix the issues with their wheel support.
I just hope it gets fixed soon. I can't really enjoy fm4 with the way the steering is now...:(
O.T. More and more
O.T.
More and more disappointed!
these days there is to Milan was the first exhibition of video games!
and between you and Microsoft, present in an official manner, you failed to bring a simulator worthy of FM4!
FLYING MAD CATZ!
I was really disappointed not to prove anything worthy of the name of sony games and see how GT5, with all the beautiful locations and top of the top flying for them!

"Regarding the bugs with 900 degree steering we are investigating issues with it, including the 0 credit issue. Brian has commented on the forums about it with more info coming soon."

hi, does anyone know whether
hi, does anyone know whether the Fanatec Club Sport Handbrake will be compatible with GT5?
can fanatec map the handbrake to say a button on GT5 controller profile, eg. to a Dual Shock 3 'o' button for the secondary controller?
since i think GT5 allows you to use a secondary controller along with the wheel. eg. if you have a G25 attached for controller 1, you can use the 'o' button on the dual shock as the handbrake.
since fanatec is already mapping their porsche wheels to g25 profile, they could map the handbrake to the buttons of a controller profile?
when is the release date for the CS handbrake?
cool, a update at last, I
cool, a update at last, I wish they speak of it in the today week in review
I want to enjoy the game the way it should with my fanatec !
Thanks Savoury.
Thanks Savoury.
I got popped twice last
I got popped twice last night in WT with SEN=OFF around Viejo Mini and Maple Short. Funnily the game gave me a couple of achievements during one of them so it's obviously conflicted. I don't think there is any safe setting. Maybe without the clutch?
I had 0 cr in nearly every
I had 0 cr in nearly every Race with 900. Then i switched to 270 which was a Shit to Drive. Now i Set it to Off which is mostly like 900 and had no Problems with 0cr for over 3hours.
At this point I've limited
At this point I've limited my racing. I'm only racing "non events" like multi-player, and club challenges (challenges we set and complete).
I'm trying to think what Turn10 could possibly be trying to block with this. In FPS I can see banning rapid fire mods and the likes, but what could you do to mod a controller to gain an advantage in Forza? Is this to block against maybe a rapid fire mod on a brake pedal? If so then why are we having an issue with steering? I honestly can't think of any reasons why this is happening.
I wonder, is this also negating your leaderboard update if you set a new best lap?
i'm only wondering what
i'm only wondering what takes turn 10 so long to fix this?? can't be so much work to fix
This is simply unacceptable.
This is simply unacceptable. Such a trivial shouldn't have passed through QA let alone take this long to fix. They seem much more interested in making the next batch of Pokémons, err cars to sell than to make their driving "sim" playable with a wheel.
could not agree more, this
could not agree more, this is beyond frustrating, and it's now the 1st of Nov and still no sign of a new title update from T10. After spending a small fortune on my set up, I expect to be able to use it like it was intended. 270 degree work around is not acceptable, especially when it's the official forza wheel. I'm about over it.

I agree I have used my $800 wheel/cockpit TWICE with FM4. With FM3 I never used the game pad.
I Really want to injoy my Fanatec wheel with Forza but It does not feel right. And I find I get weird movments with Codemaster Games, which leaves me with FM3 again for wheel use.
Is there any word on this from the Backend?? or is forza 270 degree racer?
Im not bitching, just really want to know because the game does not feel right with 900degree on.
