WARNING: Latest Xbox 360 update could cause problems UPDATE

Several customers have reported issues with our wheels after they made the latest  update to their console.

There is also a thread about these issues on forzamotorsport.net

We are still investigating the issues so please report if you have suddenly problems on the Xbox console.

Unfortunately this happened at the same time we released the new firmware so it was hard to see what caused the issues.

Please do not make this update for your Xbox console until the situation is fully clear and we have a slution.

In case you have problems after the latest Xbox update, it would be great if you report them here.

UPDATE

We do not have an official confirmation yet but it seems that the latest Xbox update fixes the issues and the wheels work fine again.

Thanks to Microsoft for the quick reaction on this matter.

Hi, Thomas. This thread

Hi, Thomas. This thread must be very exhausting to you, but I am experiencing ffb and freezing issues while playing forza 4. This happen after the first xbox live update. The second update did not fixed this issue. I have a CSR Elite Wheel.

What country? Puerto Rico (United States Territory)
What wheel? CSR Elite Wheel
What firmware version? 715
Detailed description of the issue: While playing forza 4, the game freezes and after that the wheel losses some FFB. I am looking forward to your reply. Thank you.

Hi, chilisteak Which firmware you used to fix your wheel? I have a CSR Elite Wheel and I am experiencing ffb and freezing issues while playing forza 4. I am looking forward to your reply. Thank you.

Thomas, The first update

Thomas,
The first update didn't affect me often, this "fix" however is affecting me now every time I race in Forza4. Is there anything Fanatec can do to apply pressure from a vendor side of things?

Edit: This happened again yesterday. Is this now now longer considered an issue?

Hi, GVamos. Did you fixed

Hi, GVamos. Did you fixed your wheel? If so, please tell me which firmware update did you use to fix your wheel? I have a CSR Elite Wheel and I experiencing ffb and freezing issues while playing forza 4. Thank you.

Problem not fixed. I have a

Problem not fixed. I have a PWTS with 681 firmware and have received BOTH Xbox updates here in Australia. The feedback effects are unbalanced, inconsistent and typically poor in quality with notchiness and fluctuating strength from one section of track to the next. The strength of feedback on connection to the Xbox is also unpredictable. On two occasions the wheel has gone to persistent full lock requiring exiting to the dashboard to fix. On another occasion, the game stopped responding to throttle, even though it was still registering normally in telemetry. None of the above problems had ever happened prior to the first update from Microsoft.

I'm experiencing this problem too I was lucky enough to avoid the first Xbox update but the so called fixed update was pushed to me on Friday. Now I'm experiencing intermittent loss of feedback and notches / vibration through the rim,I've also had on one occasion last night the wheel turning full lock to the left resulting in me having to reboot both wheel and Xbox.before the update my setup worked perfectly and I haven't tried the new firmware so it's defiantly the Xbox update...

I had the same thing happen

I had the same thing happen to me about 5 minutes ago. Wheel wanted to go to full lock right and was very forceful in doing so. Like being in a high speed accident and the steering linkage breaking to one direction. Turn off wheel and back on about 2 minutes later it did the same thing again but to the left.

What country? USA
What wheel? CSR
What firmware version? 7.01
Detailed description of the issue:
Even after Xbox's "fix" update, wheel will still loose FFB at odd times, not complete loss, but it feels like a 50% reduction in FFB. Its random. Also when FFB is in force, it has a very noticeable "notchy" feel to it.

again...this is AFTER the fix they put out middle of last week

This issue is not fixed yet

This issue is not fixed yet by MS. I had my wheel turn all the way left and then disconnect on me yesterday along with FFeedback drop outs. It was good for a few days but reared it's ugly head in multiplayer online. We race with damage 2 of my 3 races I ended up parking. This was in Forza4.

I don't think I will use 742

I don't think I will use 742 until they release a final version....But in the mean time I would like to have feed back on 721b vs 737 which one is best? I been running 721b and it feels really good to me. what are the strong or weak points of the two in comparison, which 1 should I use until the final version of 742 come out?... Does any 1 recommend just upgrading to 742? I do most of my racing on Xbox for Now but I do Race on p.c when I have the time. I play Forza, F1 2011, Dirt3, GRID 721b feels good on all of those games to me. Im using 737 Now but would still like to have some outside feed back. Thanx GrimeyDog

I tried the 742 firmware on

I tried the 742 firmware on my Elite and it caused intermittent force feedback. Went back to 721 which was fine and then tried 737. I didn't notice a great deal of difference but the force feedback seemed more precise with the 737 over the 721. I just play Forza 4.

went back to firmware 739

went back to firmware 739 which worked perfect before the xbox update to see if it really was the new firmware 742 or the xbox update that was giving me problems and I am now sure that it is the xbox update, I now have los of FFB in corners and the FFB is getting weaker while playing, before the xbox update I ran FFB in game at 78% now I am at 95% to get the same effect, maybe there is some bugs in firmware 742 but I knew what the 739 firmware felt like.

I am on the Elite wheel

since I have update the

since I have update the firmware in my gt2 911 wheel, nothing is working anymore. the wheel calibrate and then there is - - - mark on the display and the xbox button don't light up. :( I have tried to upload the firmware 3 time and still the same problem. Even if the updload was succesfull on my PC.
Can anyone help me? is there a way to reset everything on my wheel?

Hi, Please install FW 681

Had the same problem with

Had the same problem with the GT2 version 742 firmware on my wheel. Go to Thomas's blog and download the original 681 firmware and restore back to the older version. Easily done by replacing the V742 files with the V681 files in the firmware folder of the latest V2.2 updater.

We will just have to wait for Fanatec provide a corrected version for the GT2.

I did try the PWTS variant - it worked fine within the PC driver window but had issues when used with the Xbox so I gave up on that variant as well.

As per my OP I was

As per my OP I was unaffected in FM4 by the update that caused all the problems. Now with the "FIXIT UPDATE" (6-20) i LOST ALL ffb FOR THE FIRST 16 minutes, and CSP sporatic inputs, in FM4. It came on, but will have to check again today.

Fixed Dirt 3..... screwed up FM4. I have read that the "fixit" update has screwed up one fellows Minecraft game.

Who knows, unless you test all your games.

Race Pro still useless, and FM4 as reported in this post. There may be many other games. Gotta check my Flight games, especially because I use a Madcatz controller (F.L.Y. 9)

Elite w/CSP using 721b

I am getting sporadic FFB drop out, normally in long corners with high load on the wheel after the latest 'fixed' update.

Im now having a problem with

Im now having a problem with the force feedback pushing the wheel to the left and staying off-centre.
This is since the latest XBox 'fix' and is repeatedly happening about 4-5 laps into a race (F1 2011).
The game/wheel seems unplayable at the moment ; (
I'm using 737b Firmware.

Same with me

Please say it isn't so. I can handle FM4 screwed up, but NOT F12011....nooooo

Gonna go check, it was unaffected by the "BAD" update.

Hiya Zebrawire. (you helped

Hiya Zebrawire.
(you helped me with my first wheel settings, if you didnt remember.. Thanks again!)

F1 2011? Yeah, all was well with the wheel and game - until the 'bad' Xbox update.

I was using the 737b firmware when this problem started last week, I could only do a few laps before losing all FFB.
I then re-flashed the wheel to 721b, after initially thinking that it was a problem with the wheel.

Anyway, since discovering that it was a Microsoft issue, I installed 737b back onto the wheel and patiently waited for the MS 'fix'.

Everything seemed well after the fix, F1 seems to be a joy to play again - until I get up to about lap 4-5 of my latest career race that is, when the wheel goes mad and pulls about 20degrees to the left and stays there : (

I start the Xbox up from the wheel... and if I try to turn off the wheel when the problem occurs, then I cannot reconnect without turning the Xbox off. So frustrating!

EDIT: I've reflashed the wheel with 737b and have 'reconnected' to the Xbox again, it's seems to be fine now.
